WHY NOT COLLECT COINS

Are you bored? Tired of sitting in the house with little to do? I understand . . . the pandemic has put all of us in that same mood. The best way to cope with your newfound isolation cause by mandates of this terrible disease is to involve yourself in new and interesting indoor activities. If you cannot think of anything to do, I suggest choosing a hobby that you can spend hours and hours doing and never get tired. What is that you say? Coin collecting, why not collect coins? The hobby is educational, fun, and lucrative all at the same time.

Most importantly, coin collecting is educational. You will be surprised at the amount of history that you can learn from one little coin. Take the 1943 penny for example. Searching for it, you can learn interesting history about World War II. During the war, America experienced a shortage of copper. Why? Much of it was needed for the war effort. To save copper for the war effort in that year, the Us Mint made the penny of zinc plated steel. Consequently, the 1943 penny is silver and expensive. You can also learn that metal was not the only commodity critical to the war. American were asked to conserve sugar, meat, cooking oil and can goods. If one little penny can ignite a refresher course in history, just think what you can learn from hundreds and hundreds of other coins.

Secondly, coin collecting is not only educational, but it is also fun. No, not fun like riding in a Farris wheel or on a roller coaster. It is the kind of fun that allows you to enjoy peaceful "me time." Like a well-earned vacation, it refreshes mind and spirit while erasing any boredom that you may have. If you do not believe the picture I am describing, just try coin collecting and see the pleasure that it gives for yourself.

Lastly, collecting coins is very lucrative and is a sound investment as well. When you consider that a penny can sell for thousands of dollars or that a grandparent can collect and leave his valuable collection for his children or grandchildren, then you can see how valuable coin collecting can be. So, I say again. If you are bored with nothing to do, why not collect coin
